Tell us about your career journey and how do you feel you have been supported to overcome challenges?
I started as an apprentice in a complex needs class. I had an amazing team to work with who supported me throughout. Next, I moved to a Year 2 ASD class and am now working in a Year 2 complex class. I have learnt so much since I started at MKS and have loved being part of the School. Everyone has been very supportive. The biggest challenge I have successfully overcome is dealing with challenging behaviour. When I started, I was unsure how to deal with it but as time has gone by, I have learnt so much through staff training, observing and being given lots of advice.
What motivates you to come into work each day?
The children, with their huge smiles and bright faces that greet us in the morning motivate me to come to work!

Tell us about your career journey and how do you feel you have been supported to overcome challenges?
I came to Marjory Kinnon as an apprentice with no experience of working in a school, but with a sporty background. I was given all the support and guidance I needed to fulfil my potential of working with children. I also went on various courses to meet our children’s needs. These courses also allowed me to gain new ideas and helped with my professional development. In 2015 I was given the opportunity to join the PE department as a sports TA. In 2016 I was offered the Primary PE teaching role, which was amazing for me as it shows my hard work paid off, and great to know that my headteacher believes in me.
What motivates you to come into work each day?
Our pupils are my biggest motivation; nothing feels better than to see my impact on their lives.
