There is an extensive induction period for your child when they start school in our Early Years Department.  We will invite you in for an induction meeting in July to meet your child’s new teacher and give you some detail about the school and the department. We will then organise a home visit with you so that we can meet your child in their safe environment.

In September the children have a phased start. In their first week at school they come in to school from 9am until 12pm. If transport has been approved, your child will be able to come to school on the bus but someone will need to collect them at 12pm.

In their second week, the children will experience staying in school for lunch. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday they will go home after lunch at 1pm. Again, someone will need to collect them from school at 1pm. They will start their first full day on the Thursday of their second week. If transport has been approved, they will be able to go home on the bus from this day.

Pupils will be assessed during these two weeks to determine if they require a longer settling in period. Although this is rare, some children may need a longer period to adjust to the change in setting.
