Meeting the Needs of our Primary Students

Our carefully planned school day provides a balance of learning, play, and personalised support, ensuring that every child thrives in our nurturing environment.

    • Children in our Primary years (ages 5 -11) have a range of learning needs, including difficulties with communication, social interaction, and cognition and attention. We tailor our approach to ensure that every child receives the individualised support they need to develop key skills, independence, and confidence.
    • Small Class Sizes: Our classes have 8-10 pupils, each supported by a teacher and at least two teaching assistants to provide a high level of individual attention.
    • Visual Timetables & Structure: We use visual schedules, Now & Next boards, TEACCH, and clear routines to support pupils in understanding the structure of their day and transitioning between activities smoothly.
    • Personalised Learning: We adapt the National Curriculum, breaking learning into small, achievable steps with personalised targets to help each child make meaningful progress.
    • Communication & Social Skills: We prioritise speech, language, and communication development, incorporating Makaton, AAC devices, and social stories where appropriate.
    • Sensory Integration & Emotional Regulation: Many of our pupils benefit from sensory diets, movement breaks, and calming strategies woven throughout the school day to support their engagement and well-being.
    • Developing Independence & Life Skills: Through structured play, practical learning, and real-world experiences, we help pupils build skills for everyday life, preparing them for the next stages of their journey.
