Year 11 Students Explore Careers with Kier Construction

We are thrilled to share the exciting experiences of our Year 11 students, who took part in an engaging careers workshop hosted by construction company Kier. This one-day session was designed to inspire young people to explore diverse career opportunities in the construction industry.

During the workshop, students participated in hands-on activities that introduced them to engineering and building techniques. They worked collaboratively on challenges that tested their problem-solving and creativity while gaining insights into the variety of roles within the construction sector. The session also included a Q&A with Kier’s industry professionals, giving students a chance to learn about different career pathways and the skills required to succeed.

Assistant Headteacher, Mr. Jake Gowers, shared his enthusiasm about the event,  “The workshop was an invaluable opportunity for our students to engage with real-world professionals and explore potential future careers. The practical activities sparked their curiosity, and we’re excited for the upcoming six-week Kierriculum programme that we have planned to take this experience further.”

This extended programme will provide students with even more in-depth learning experiences, including visits to live construction sites.

We are proud of how our students embraced this opportunity, and we look forward to seeing their skills and interests grow as they continue to explore their future career options.
