Sports Premium
At Marjory Kinnon School, we believe that physical education (PE) and sport play a vital role in enriching the lives of our pupils. Sport is not just about physical activity—it helps develop key life skills such as discipline, resilience, communication, teamwork, and ambition. These qualities support our pupils in building confidence, improving focus, and developing positive attitudes that extend beyond the classroom.
Sports Premium
We welcome the Government’s commitment to improving PE and sport in primary schools through the Sports Premium funding. This additional funding enables us to enhance our PE provision by:
- Delivering high-quality PE lessons tailored to our pupils’ needs
- Expanding sporting opportunities, including competitions and clubs
- Encouraging active lifestyles to support physical and mental well-being
For 2024/25, we received £17,400 in PE & Sport Premium funding. You can read more about how we use this funding in our detailed report below:
Swimming at MKS
Swimming is an essential life skill, and we ensure that all pupils take part in swimming lessons as part of the national curriculum. Schools are required to publish how many Year 6 pupils meet the national curriculum swimming requirements, which include:
- Swimming competently, confidently, and proficiently over 25 meters
- Using a range of strokes effectively
- Performing safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
While all children participate in swimming lessons at Marjory Kinnon School, their learning needs may impact their ability to meet national swimming standards. Our priority is to ensure that every child can gain water confidence, water safety awareness, and fundamental swimming skills in a supportive and enjoyable environment.
