School Meals

Lunchtime is an essential part of the school day, offering children the chance to develop social skills, practice healthy dining habits, and explore new foods in a supportive environment. At Marjory Kinnon, we provide nutritious, in-house school meals that are freshly prepared and cooked on-site.

How to Order School Meals

Our school meals are crafted with care to ensure they are both delicious and balanced. Parents order meals through our online system, Arbor, ensuring their children receive wholesome food every day.

We understand that some pupils may have special dietary requirements, and we are happy to accommodate specific needs. Halal meals are available upon request, and if your child has a food allergy, please inform us so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

To order school meals for your child, please use Arbor for Parents. For help on how to access this, please use the Arbor Help on Menu Choices

Cost of School Meals / Free School Meals

Our school meals are cooked on-site by Stir Food, offering a well-balanced, two-course meal for £2.50 per day. To pay for meals, please use Arbor for Parents

Secondary school pupils may be eligible for free school meals. For more information and to apply, please visit the London Borough of Hounslow Free School Meals webpage.

All primary school children in London automatically receive free school meals. Even though school meals are free for primary school children, you may still benefit from applying for free school meals. Registering can unlock additional support for your family and extra funding for the school. By applying, you may also be able to access:

  • Help with school uniform costs (through local schemes)
  • Food vouchers during school holidays
  • Discounted or free after-school clubs, trips, and holiday activities
  • Support with household bills or emergencies through local grant programmes

The Lunch Menu

Our school lunch menus follow a three-week cycle, ensuring variety and balanced nutrition. Each day, pupils can choose from three meal options, including a vegetarian dish and a jacket potato with a selection of toppings.

Packed Lunches

Pupils may also bring a healthy, nut-free packed lunch from home, which should include nutritious food and drinks. We ensure that fresh drinking water is readily available for all students.

Packed lunches must NOT include:

  • Nuts or nut-based products, including muesli bars, peanut butter and chocolate spread (e.g. Nutella)
  • Chocolate bars or sweets
  • Fizzy drinks

It is recommended that packed lunches include:

  • A starchy food such as bread, pasta, rice, couscous, noodles, potatoes or other cereals.
  • At least one portion of fruit and vegetables every day.
  • Meat, fish or other source of non-dairy protein.
  • Oily fish, such as salmon, at least once every three weeks.
  • Dairy food such as milk, cheese, yoghurt, fromage frais or custard.
  • Only still water, fruit juice, semi-skimmed milk, yoghurt or milk drinks and smoothies - in plastic bottles or cartons.

We recommend that packed lunches are stored in an insulated food bag. In summer months a freezer block will help to reduce the possibility of food deteriorating.

Review of Packed Lunches

Packed lunches will be regularly reviewed by staff at school. If it is felt necessary parents will be called.

We recognise that some pupils may have verified medical conditions requiring special diets that do not allow for the recommendations to be met exactly. In this case parents are urged to ensure that packed lunches are as healthy as possible.

Our Dining Halls

We have two dedicated dining rooms—one for Primary and one for Secondary—offering comfortable, age-appropriate spaces for mealtimes. Our youngest children in Early Years benefit from their own breakout lunch area, providing them with extra support as they transition into school life.  Our staff sit with younger pupils to supervise meals and offer assistance where needed, ensuring a positive and inclusive dining experience. Older pupils are encouraged to develop independence while still receiving support as required.
