After School Clubs

At Marjory Kinnon School, we offer a selection of After School Clubs that are specifically designed to meet the needs and interests of our pupils. These clubs provide a safe, supportive environment where pupils can explore activities that are carefully tailored to their abilities and learning requirements.

We focus on providing activities that are accessible and meaningful for our pupils, ensuring that each child has an opportunity to participate in a way that suits their individual needs.

Registration & Important Information

When we can offer an After School Club to a pupil, we will send a letter to parents with details. If you receive a letter and are interested in your child attending the club, please sign and return the attached slip to register your interest.

  • Permission slip: All pupils joining the club must provide a signed permission slip from their parents.
  • Travel arrangements: Pupils are required to be independent travellers or parents must agree to pick them up at the end of the club.
  • Punctuality: If you are more than 5 minutes late on more than three occasions, your child may no longer be permitted to attend the club.
  • Availability: Please check with your child's class teacher for current availability and specific details about the clubs on offer.

Brownies (Girlguiding for girls aged 7-10)

We offer a Brownies after school programme for girls aged 7-10 which follows the Girlguiding programme. The activities are designed to be fun and engaging, helping students build confidence and enjoy valuable experiences outside of the classroom.

Run by trained volunteers, the girls participate in fun activities, play games, and earn badges. Through fun, friendship, challenge, and adventure, Girlguiding empowers girls to find their voice, inspiring them to discover the best in themselves and to make a positive difference in their community.

Choir

Our choir club, run by Mr Wilkes, aims to foster a love of music through singing. As well as developing our children’s musical talents, it also helps to encourage confidence in performing.

The choir club rehearses from 3.15 to 4pm every Wednesday.

Drama

Our drama club gives secondary students the opportunity to explore creative expression. The aim of the club, run by Mrs L. Bull and Mrs S. Thomas, is for the children to learn to cooperate together, develop confidence and have fun!

Up to 8 students meet every Tuesday between 3.15 and 4.15pm to play interactive games, improvise, mime and act.

Duke of Edinburgh

We offer the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) programme to select students in upper secondary who are interested in completing the awards programme. We support students in completing the four sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and an Expedition. We are always so proud of our students who participate in the programme. This achievement helps them build lifelong belief in themselves, supporting them to take on their own challenges, follow their passions, and discover talents they never knew they had.

Lego

Our Lego Club provides a fun and engaging environment where children can develop essential social skills through collaborative play. We use LEGO-Based Therapy, a structured social development program designed to enhance communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a supportive group setting.

This play-based approach is particularly beneficial for autistic children and those with language or social communication difficulties. However, all pupils can benefit from the opportunity to build friendships and improve their social confidence while working together on creative LEGO projects.

To further support our students, we integrate additional communication strategies, including:

  • Basic Makaton – Enhancing understanding and expression through simple signs.
  • Colour Semantics – Supporting language development by categorising words and structuring sentences using colours.

Through these approaches, our students gain confidence, strengthen their social interactions, and develop essential life skills—all while having fun.

Multi Sports

Our Multi Sports Club, led by our in-house PE teachers, offers children a chance to explore a variety of sports in a supportive, fun environment. Each session features different activities that help children build skills, stay active, and enjoy teamwork.

What to Expect:

  • A range of sports, with focus on fun and participation
  • Safe, inclusive environment where every child can thrive
  • Develop coordination, teamwork, and confidence

Our Multi Sports Club is a wonderful way for children to stay active, develop their skills, and have fun after school.

The Club runs on three different days of the week with separate sessions for children in KS1, KS2, and Secondary.
