Safeguarding

Keeping our pupils safe is our top priority

At Marjory Kinnon School, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where every child is protected from harm. We understand that our pupils have additional needs and may require extra support to stay safe, both in school and beyond. We expect all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment to safeguarding our pupils.

Our Safeguarding Policy and Procedures

We take safeguarding seriously and follow strict policies and procedures to ensure:

  • A safe and secure environment for all pupils
  • Staff are fully trained to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns
  • Pupils are taught how to stay safe in a way that is appropriate to their needs and understanding
  • A culture of trust and openness, where pupils feel confident to speak to a trusted adult

For more information, you can read our full Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.

Our approach follows government guidelines, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), and is supported by Hounslow’s Local Authority Safeguarding Team.

Online Safety

The internet is a great tool for learning and communication, but it also comes with risks. At Marjory Kinnon School, we help pupils develop safe online habits that match their individual understanding and needs.

How We Promote Online Safety:

  • Teaching pupils about safe internet use in an accessible way
  • Encouraging pupils to talk to a trusted adult if they see something upsetting
  • Using appropriate filtering and monitoring on all school devices
  • Supporting parents and carers with guidance on managing online risks at home

Schools Mobile – Protect Your Child’s Devices

Marjory Kinnon School works with schoolsmobile.com to provide access for all of our pupils and families to their app. The Schools Mobile app helps parents protect their children from online threats by providing ready-made, age-appropriate settings that can be applied to children’s devices quickly. It offers features like parental controls, web protection, and customisable access times to ensure a balanced and safe digital experience for children.

If you would like access to Schoolsmobile, please contact the school office office@mks.org.uk
