SCHOOL FACILITIES

At Marjory Kinnon School, we are proud to offer a truly exceptional learning environment. Our purpose-built, £30 million school building is designed specifically to meet the needs of our pupils aged 4 to 16 (Reception to Year 11). With state-of-the-art facilities and specialist spaces, our school supports both learning and personal development in a safe, inspiring environment.

Since moving into our new building in 2018, our school community has grown steadily, and we are now proud to support over 300 pupils—making us one of the largest SEND schools in the country.

Exceptional Learning Spaces

Our school building is packed with fully equipped subject rooms, including dedicated spaces for science, art, food technology, and music.

To support the diverse needs of our pupils, we also have:

  • Specialist sensory rooms to provide calming, therapeutic spaces.
  • Two dedicated libraries—one for Primary and one for Secondary—designed to foster a love of reading and provide calm, quiet spaces for pupils to enjoy books at their own pace.
  • A dedicated therapy corridor where pupils can receive targeted support.
  • A life skills ‘flat’, where Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils learn practical, independent living skills.

Sports & Dining

Physical activity and social time are essential parts of the school day, so we’ve made sure our facilities reflect that. Our large, purpose-built sports hall is a hub of activity, while our two dining rooms—one for Primary and one for Secondary—offer comfortable, age-appropriate spaces for mealtimes. Our youngest children in Early Years also benefit from their own breakout lunch area, giving them extra support as they start their school journey.

Inspiring Outdoor Spaces

Our extensive outdoor areas offer a wealth of opportunities for play, learning and relaxation. These include:

  • Dedicated outdoor teaching space to bring lessons to life.
  • A specially designed Early Years play area promoting safe exploration and imaginative play.
  • Primary outdoor facilities featuring a sensory garden, a cycle track, a football pitch, and active play equipment such as swings and a climbing frame.
  • Secondary outdoor spaces with a more mature feel, featuring outdoor gym equipment, pop-up table tennis, and a 4G football pitch.
  • Our Reflections Garden offers a quiet, calming space for pupils who may feel overwhelmed or need a sensory break during lunchtime.
  • Our Eco Garden provides a hands-on horticulture experience, ideal for pupils who benefit from practical, calming activities in nature.
  • The full-sized grass playing field gives plenty of space for team games, outdoor learning and whole-school events.

Safe & Accessible Parking

We know that for many families of children with autism, calm and stress-free drop-off and pick-up routines are essential. To make arrivals and departures smooth and safe, our site includes over 40 dedicated parent parking spaces, a large staff car park, and a designated area for Local Authority Transport drop-off and pick-up right next to the school entrance. This ensures pupils can arrive and leave safely every day.
