We are at a very exciting time in the life of Marjory Kinnon School. In March 2018 we moved into a brand new, purpose built, £30 million school building which offers state-of-the-art facilities to our pupils and enabled us to become a three form entry school for children aged four to 16 (Early Years to Key Stage 4).
Our pupil numbers will rise steadily over the next few years and at capacity we will have 288 pupils, making us one of the largest SEND schools in the country.
Our new building incorporates fully fitted subject rooms for science, art, food technology, music and separate libraries for primary and secondary pupils. There are dedicated sensory rooms and a therapy suite to support the additional needs of our pupils. A life skills room enables us to teach independent living skills to our Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils.
The whole school is benefiting from our large, dedicated sports hall and two separate dining rooms for Primary and Secondary pupils. The Primary dining room includes a break out area for Early Years lunches, enabling us to provide extra support to our youngest children in the first stage of their independent school career.
The outside space provides amazing benefits and opportunities for our school community and includes dedicated outdoor teaching space. Early Years pupils have their own specially designed play space. The Primary area includes a sensory garden, a cycle track, a football pitch and an active area with swings, a climbing frame and sunken trampolines. The Secondary outside space has a more mature feel with outdoor gym equipment and pop up table tennis, a 4G football pitch, a reflections garden for quieter lunchtimes and an Eco Garden to promote an interest in horticulture. Our former school has been demolished and the site is being developed into a grass playing field incorporating full size football pitches.
Our car parking area has over 40 spaces dedicated for parent parking and a further large car park for staff. There is also an area allocated to Local Authority Transport drop off and pick up adjacent to the school, to ensure the safety of our pupils.
