Welcome to the Primary Department
The Primary Department at Marjory Kinnon School caters for pupils aged between four and 11 who have delays or difficulties in communication, interaction, cognition or learning, and function within the moderate-severe range of learning difficulties.
There are currently 17 classes (six KS1 – Lower Primary classes and 11 KS2 – Upper Primary classes) in the Primary Department. Class sizes range between 8 and 10 pupils, with at least one teacher and one teaching assistant supporting each class.
The children in KS1 and KS2 follow the National Curriculum, which is adapted and differentiated to meet the pupils’ needs. Learning is broken into small steps and targets are personalised to ensure each pupil makes at least good progress in all subject areas.
